11. Creator was offended by creature (Gen 6:1 - 8)

Today's passage explains why God decided to destroy all living creatures.

Read Gen 6:1-8

The core of sin: claiming the ownership of your life. The sons of God (        ) that the daughters of humankind were beautiful. Thus they took wives for (                 ) from any they (         ). So the Lord said, “(                    ) will not remain in humankind indefinitely”

Worldly success but not pleasing to God. Their children (              ) were mighty heroes and became (             ) in the world, but the Lord saw (                   ) of humankind had become (           ) on the earth.

The Lord (              ) humankind for His purpose. But when they pursued their own thoughts and plans, He was highly (             ).

Note that human sin brought the destruction of all creatures.

But Noah found (           ) in the sight of the Lord.

Meditation for Application

The marriage in verses 1-3 is not a serious crime like theft or murder. What is wrong? The passage kept saying that they saw and chose for themselves. It is the same way that Eve had eaten the fruit.

As verse 5 says, the inclination of their hearts was only evil and against the will of their Creator. We were made to represent God and to seek God's glory. As we seek our own goals in our life, it will offend the Creator. Let's say you have raised a dog with all your love and care. How would you feel when the dog barks against you?

Don't we all do the same? We all seek our dreams and life goals. I don't mean that seeking our own dreams is OK. Remember that such a life doesn't please God.

Verse 8 shows that our hope is God's grace given through one man Jesus.
