 Answers and Meditation

The Horites

Why does the Bible record the descendants of the Horites? Esau’s family intermarry the Horites and dispossessed them and became Edomites.

Though they were descendants of Esau, the first son of Isaac, they assimilated themselves into the gentiles.

Eight

Surely, God blessed Esau and his descendants(Edomite) to be numerous. But they have nothing with the covenant of Abraham.

In this chapter, we see many names of chiefs and kings.

Note that the Bible repeatedly says ‘chief’ and ‘king.’ This list of Edomite kings (verses 31-39) demonstrates the partial fulfillment of God's promise that kings would come from Abraham's loins (17:16).
