Answers and Meditation

2, 1, 5, 3, 4

Many parts of this passage show how humble they lowered themselves before Joseph. They called the servant of Joseph ‘my lord’ (20) and their father ‘your servant our father’ (28).

The author called Joseph’s brothers just ‘the men’ six times (15, 16, 18, 24, 33).

They brought gifts and bowed down and prostrated themselves before Joseph. (28)

All these observations indicate how much they humbled themselves.

Everything is fine (Shalom to you), God, father

‘Shalom to you,’ the one sentence of the servant of Joseph comforted their fearful hearts.

The image of this passage depicts Joseph as a divine being. He controls everything, comforts them, and provides food to their satisfaction. And they worshipped him as if they did to God. This is the fulfillment of Joseph’s youth dreams.
