Answers and Meditation

Pharaoh hasn’t listened to God, for his heart was hardened.

The Lord wanted to show who the LORD was. Not knowing the LORD will make your heart stubborn to disobey.

Staff, blood, died, the Nile.

The plague of blood struck the Nile, which they thought was their life's source.

When Pharaoh was in the morning worship for the god of the Nile, Moses showed that God was greater than the god of the Nile in front of Pharaoh. They thought they got life from the Nile. But, when the Lord struck the Nile, they could not live. Fish died and the water went bad.

“There was blood everywhere in the land of Egypt.” (19, 21) Blood symbolizes death. Thus, the plague of the blood gives a message that there will be death for anyone who doesn’t listen to the Lord. The first plague was a warning, and the last was the death of the firstborn.

“Egyptians could not drink water from Nile” (18, 21, 24). As the Lord struck the Nile, it could no longer work as the source of life.

Anything that we have relied on for our life and happiness, if God strikes it, we will taste death, let alone life.

Pharaoh’s heart remained hard, for their magicians did the same. He refused to listen to Moses.

“Just as the Lord had predicted.” Though it seems not going as we wish, everything happens as the Lord has said.
