Answers and Meditation

The God of Hebrews

God uses different names to announce Himself to Pharaoh. Lord, the God of Israel (5:1), LORD, the God of the Hebrews (7:16, 9:1, 9:13, 10:3), LORD (8:1, 8:20)

‘The Hebrews’ indicated the immigrant who had crossed over. They were weak, without land, and oppressed. When God called Himself the God of Hebrew, He meant He cared for the weak and the oppressed.

The distinction between Israel and Egypt.

It came at the appointed time.

To announce that it is the power of God.

The fact that the magicians could not stand before Pharaoh tells that the gods whom the magicians served could not save Egyptians from God’s judgment.

The plagues are getting severe and aiming at their bodies and, eventually, their lives.

The Lord, predicted

All reports said God was striking Egypt, but Pharaoh refused to listen. Because of such intentional disobedience, for the first time, the Lord Himself hardened Pharaoh’s heart.

Intentional disobedience will remove the chance of God’s grace. Thus, you will go more stubborn and disobedient. What command of God are you refusing to obey now?
