28. Reason of their deliverance announced at Mt. Sinai (Ex 19:1-25)

The Israelites finally arrived at Mt. Sinai. Now, the Lord explained why He had delivered them from Egypt.

πŸ‘‰ Read Exodus 19:1-25

God demonstrated His power upon Egypt and loving care for Israel. It was to make them His special (             ) and a kingdom of (             ) to the nations by keeping His (            ) (5-6)

God would come down and talk with Moses to make them believe God sent Moses. What to do to prepare for this? (10-11, 22)

What were the signs of God’s coming down? (six, 16-19)

God warned three times (12, 22, 24) of the danger of approaching the mountain. Then why Moses and Aaron were able to come up?

Answers and Meditation

If they had arrived on 3/1, the travel to Mt. Sinai was 45 days, for they had departed at the Passover, 1/14.

Possession, priests, covenant

"If you will diligently keep my covenant." By keeping God’s covenant, they will become the priest kingdom so that all nations will be blessed through them. This would be how God fulfills the promise to Abraham, 'all nations will bless each other using the name of your descendnts.' (Gen 22:18)

Though the promise was given to all generations of Abraham's descendants, its fulfillment comes to the generation of obedience.

God saved us to make us the ambassadors of His kingdom. This is one of the purposes of salvation. As we stay in the Lord Jesus, we will become His ambassadors.

Cleansing their clothes, be holy

God didn’t request them to decorate or do something special but cleanse themselves. The first thing God wants from us is our repentant hearts, not our achievement.

Thunder, lightening, dark cloud, big trumpet sound, smoke, fire, earthquake

These signs represent divine power and thus make them fear the Lord and obey His commands.

They were called to come up.

It was not because they were holier than others but because they were chosen as God's messengers.
