44. The Reason of Consecration: Immanuel (Ex 29:29-46)

Making them holy is for God to reside among His people.

πŸ‘‰ Read Exodus 29:29-46

“For (            ) days you are to make atonement for the altar and set it apart as it holy. Then the altar will be most holy. Anything that touches the altar will be (             ).”

 Seven, holy

In general, anything that touches an unclean object will be profaned. However, this holy altar has the power to cleanse unclean things. When the Jews got along with the Gentiles, they would become unclean. However, Jesus became a friend of sinners and made them clean.

Every day, they offer (          ) rams for burnt offerings. What is the reason for this offering? (43)

Two, to set apart the tent of meeting holy

One ram in the morning, another on the sundown. It is the place where the LORD meets His people. There should be continual burnt offerings to set apart the place as holy.

“I will set apart as (          ) the tent of meeting and the altar, and I will set apart as holy (            ) and his sons that they may minister as priests to (        ).”

 Holy, Aaron, me

Anything that is related to the LORD should be set apart and holy. Note multiple occurrences of ‘holy’ or ‘set apart.’

What is the purpose when God sanctifies the tabernacle and priests? (45-46)

For the Holy God to reside among them.

So complicated the procedure and the death of the rams. For this much, God wants to reside among His sinful people. Later, on the Calvary, Jesus died on the cross to make us God's temple.

The purpose of Exodus was to be their God. It is the same for us. God saved us to make us the workers of His kingdom. God wants to make all nations holy to the Lord through us.
