Answers and Meditation

The Sabbath law

The Lord addressed the Sabbath law again before He instructed them to build the tabernacle. Keeping the Sabbath was more important than completing the tabernacle earlier. The Sabbath was also emphasized in chapter 31.

At the center of religious rituals in OT law was the Sabbath. The Sabbatical rest distinguished them from other nations in their life.

5, 21, 22

All materials for the tabernacle were ‘offering for the Lord.’

A willing heart is essential for God, who sees and accepts the heart, which is reflected in their offerings.

“Willing heart”: generous and inclined heart toward God and His Kingdom.

4 ~ 9, 10 ~ 19, 20~22

Making the golden calf was initiated by people’s request. But building the tabernacle was God’s will. He didn’t need to persuade them when Moses announced God's will. God motivated people’s hearts. It was the work of God, and God worked.

After the Lord had given them the law, He asked them to build the tabernacle.

The Lord delivered them from slavery so that they could serve the Lord with free will. The Lord gave them the law to live as the chosen people and reveal God. The Lord gave them the law of rituals and sacrifices so that the Lord could live among them. They were delivered from Pharaoh to live with God.

The consummation of our salvation is to be with the Lord foerever.
