57. Things in the Courtyard (Ex 38:1-31)

The Altar for the burnt offering, the Construction of the Courtyard, and the Materials of the Construction.

πŸ‘‰ Read Exodus 38:1-31

Compare 27:1-19 and 38:1-20. Besides the first phrase of each verse, there is verse-by-verse similarity between the two passages. What does this similarity say?

What was the altar made of?

What is the dimension of the courtyard?

How much gold, silver, and bronze were used for construction?

Answers and Meditation

Bezalel made everything according to the Lord’s words.

One difference is that the Lord didn’t order them to overlay the post tops with silver, but Bezalel did so (19).

In this chapter, the bronze basin is included (8). Whereas it was not mentioned in 27:1-19, but separately, in 30:17-21.

Acacia wood and bronze

150 x 75 feet (100 x 50 cubits)

Gold: 29 talents and 730 shekels (~ 1 ton)

Silver: 100 talents and 1775 shekels (~ 4 ton)

Bronze: 70 talents and 2400 shekels (~ 2.5ton)

Verses 21-31 show that many workers worked together (21-23) and that an enormous amount of gold, silver, and bronze was used (24-31).

It was a huge project. And God commanded Moses to make this tabernacle, motivated their hearts, and supported them with wisdom and skill.
