01. The Burnt Offering (Lev 1:1-17)
The Lord called Moses from the tent of meeting, not the mountain. As the Lord resides among them, they should be holy. Leviticus tells us how to live once we have become Christians.
π Read Leviticus 1:1-17
Fill in the following table that describes the order of
burnt offerings.
Works of the presenter |
Works of the priest |

(4) |
(5) |

parts and the suet. |
(7) wash its entrails and legs |
(8) burnt the washed entrails and legs |
(1) The presenter presented a flawless male.
(4) The priest splashed the blood on the altar.
(5) The presenter skinned it and cut it into parts.
Soothing aroma: the sacrifice would calm down God’s wrath against sinful human.
It is noticeable that the presenter killed the animal, not the priest, after laying of his/her hand on it. The presenter would realize that this animal is sacrificed in his/her place.
It was the will of the Father God that Jesus Christ was abandoned and killed by those he would save.
Burnt offering (In Hebrew, Olah, Χ’ֹΧָ֤Χ meaning ‘being lifted up’) represented a whole dedication to the Lord. It was a voluntary sacrifice.
The theme statement of Leviticus is this. "You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy." (Lev 9:2) Note that the Lord didn't give this command of holiness while they were in Egypt.
The Lord asks those in the world to be holy, but us His children. If you want to live in the Lord's presence, you should be holy.
