It is interesting that the sin offering is presented when
people get guilty for the priest’s sin, even before priest becomes guilty.
For the priest, he was supposed to be guiltless not only in this own conscience but also in other's conscience because he was the anointed priest who stood before the Lord for the people.
The camp, clean
For a sin offering of common person, the priest was supposed
to eat it after applying the blood to the alter and burning the fat portion.
But for the sin offering for the priest, it should be burned outside the camp.
It is because he was the anointed priest. ‘The high priest’
(verses 3 and 5 in NET version), its literal translation is ‘the anointed
priest.’
