Verses 26, 31

Divination is one of the pagan habits. They served their gods for material blessings and wanted to know their future, by all means, for more blessings. But our God wants His people to trust Him for their needs and follow His instructions without worrying about them. God didn’t want the Israelites to serve God in the same way the pagan nations served their gods, the way that God is the means to acquire wealth or their desires.

Our God wants to give us His whole being. And the Lord God should be our ultimate goal.

 

They were foreigners in Egypt.

Remembering the suffering in Egypt should make them show mercy to foreigners. On the other hand, they should not keep dishonest measures as they did in Egypt, for they were brought out from Egypt. (verses 35-36)
