33. Rules for the priests: Who will eat the holy food (Lev 22:1-16)
This passage regulates who is allowed to eat the holy offering.

If a priest eats the holy food while in his uncleanness, he
profanes the name of God.

This is one example of when they offended God’s holiness and needed
to offer a guilt offering.
The Lord sanctified the priests (9) and the offerings (16). Therefore,
they should show proper respect in dealing with the offerings, the holy food
for the priests.
Ahimelech, the priest, gave the showbread, which only the priest can eat, and David ate it. Nevertheless, God does not punish David. Because David was in a desperate situation, he showed compassion even at the risk of God's name being profaned.
In the same way, the Lord bored the shameful cross from His compassionate heart toward us in our hopeless plight.
