Answers and Meditation

Thirty, fifty

For redemption for the firstborn in Israel, the Levites from one-month-old and upward in chapter 3. But, in chapter 4, those from 30 years old to 50 years old were counted for the ministry.

The ark of the testimony, the table of presence, the lampstand, the gold altar, the altar

The priests cover the holy objects with cloth and insert carrying poles. The Kohathites, then, come in and carry them.

Oil, incense, and daily grain offering, anointing oil

They are liquid or powder and difficult to wrap for moving. Thus, the priests need to carry them.

The priest should prepare everything ready for the Kohathites to carry the holy things, lest they would not die.

They were given limited privileges. Though they were chosen to carry those items, they could not see nor touch them. The holy objects were covered by clothes by the priests.

They need to entrust their lives to the priests. Their lives depend on how well the priests cover the holy things.

In our church ministry, we also could be blamed for someone else’s mistake. When such a situation happens, we’d better not be frustrated and entrust the resolution of the situation to God’s hands. As the Levites were God’s possession, we are God’s. Give in your life at God’s disposal.
