43. Vows and dedication (Lev 27:1-15)
Though God did not command them to make vows, vowing is a natural desire of people who love God or want things from God.

These amounts were very large. The average wage of a worker
in biblical times was about one shekel per month.
The priest will decide when the person who makes the votive offering is too poor to pay the conversion value.
Holy, one-fifth
Revoking a vow made to God jeopardizes the holiness and glory of the Sovereign God. Adding one-fifth was required to compensate for 'the demage in God's reputation' just as in the Guilt offering.
Making a vow was done voluntarily, and so was redeeming it. However, there should follow this regulation. The Lord doesn't want us to make a rash swear. Also, He wants us to keep the original vow without redeeming.
