The Lord warned them, but they were senseless.

The priest hammered the 250 censers to make sheets of bronze covering the (             ), which became a (           ) for them.

What is the meaning of the sign? (40)

But the next day, the community murmured against Moses and Aaron, “(            ) have killed the Lord’s people.”

When the plague started by the Lord’s wrath among the people, Aaron took the censer with burning coals from the altar in it, made (               ) for the people, and stood between the (           ) and the (           ).

Answers and Meditation

Altar, sign

Though they sinned, their censers became holy. Those were dedicated to the Lord.

No outsider who is not a descendant of Aaron should approach to burn incense. Otherwise, they will be killed.

Anyone who approaches without approval will be killed. It is because he has neared the Holy God as a sinner.

Aaron and his descendants were chosen by God and dedicated to the office by anointing. And they should keep the proper procedure to approach God.

Only in Jesus Christ, we can come to God.

It was so apparent that the rebels were killed by the Lord. However, the people murmured that Moses had killed them. They are clueless.

Atonement, dead, living

Moses asked Aaron to do atonement for the people without any confirmation from the Lord. It was so urgent. And Moses might have confidence in the Lord’s forgiveness.

It is the Lord’s grace that He forgave them even when He was alleged to forgive them.
