04: Defeat of two kings: rehearsal of Canaanite conquest (Deut 2:26 – 3:11)

The Lord arranged the wars with two Amorite kings before they entered Canaan. Thus, He taught them how they would triumph over the Canaanite nations.

This passage emphasizes two things. Find related verses for each statement. Two kings were strong and mighty (two verses               ). The Lord gave their lands to Israel (five verses               ). The victory must have convinced the Israelites that the Lord would give the (                 ) to them.

Their father generation was afraid of strong Canaanite nations and didn’t want to enter the land. The Lord has gracefully arranged this rehearsal of the Canaanite conquest and encouraged His people.

14: God restores the nation in His way (Judges 9:22 – 57)

There seemed to be no hope for Israel once Abimelech, a man like a thornbush, became king. Yet, see how the Lord, in His own ways, restores societal order and upholds justice.
