If they keep disobeying the Lord, He will make them return to Egypt and revoke the covenantal relationship.

Your God, abundance, poverty (or hunger), enemy

The Lord will raise a distant nation that Israel has never thought of (verse 49).

They thought Babylon would not attack them because it was far. They tried to escape the threat of Assyria using the power of Babylon. However, they were destroyed by Babylon.

Even though your life seems secure, God could raise His stick to discipline you. Revere the Lord.

The foreign army will destroy everything without mercy (verses           ).

Yes, this will happen in the (           ) the Lord has given them. They will even eat their children given by (              ) (verses 52-53).

Egypt

The fact that the Lord revokes his saying of not returning to Egypt implies that the covenant is terminated. They will end up in a worse situation than before the Exodus.

Other notes

Verses 58 – 68 illustrate the Lord will terminate the covenantal relationship with them, one by one.

The ultimate curse is terminating your relationship with the Lord, not poverty.

In Israel's history, the people who were left at Judah when the Babylonian army took captives to Babylon went down to Egypt. there, they served the gods of the Sun, Moon, and stars and were later killed by the Babylonian army.
