29. David’s praise: The Lord is faithful ( 2Samuel 22:26 - 52)
David’s song now unfolds in praise of God’s faithfulness. The focus shifts from what He has done to who He is. A true encounter with God is meant to turn our eyes from His works to the Lord Himself.

Q4. What would be the purpose of God’s deliverance according to v47 – 51?
The purpose of God’s deliverance is praise and thanksgiving before the nations.
Verse 51 confirms that the Lord’s faithfulness is especially for His chosen ruler, while verse 42 also confirms the privilege of His chosen people.
Hannah’s song at the beginning of Samuel (1 Sam 2:1–10) praises the sovereignty of the LORD and anticipates the exaltation of His anointed one. At the close of Samuel, David’s song (2 Sam 22) shows this hope fulfilled, illustrating how God’s sovereign providence is displayed in salvation, training, victory, and glory. David praises the LORD who delivered him and gratefully confesses God’s covenant faithfulness. Together, these two songs frame the book’s message: the sovereign LORD delighted in David, chose him, and faithfully fulfilled His covenant promises.
In 2 Samuel 22, David’s faith grows from celebrating personal deliverance to trusting in God’s character (faithfulness), relying on His word (truth), and looking toward His vision (the fulfillment of the Davidic covenant). This mirrors our own journey of faith. At first, we rejoice in God’s help in our personal needs; over time, we come to trust who He is, hold fast to His word, and set our hope on the final completion of salvation.
