24: Instruction on Prayer (Luke 11:1 – 13)

Seeking God’s glory and His kingdom. With persistence. Simply pray with confidence that He will give us good things just as a son asks his father.

πŸ‘‰ Read Luke 11:1-13

Q1. The Lord’s Prayer teaches us what to pray for—our life goal, our needs, and our duty. What are they?

The goal of life: the glory of God’s name and the seeking of His kingdom.

Our needs: daily bread, the forgiveness of sins, and deliverance from evil.

Our duty: to forgive others.

Q2. From v5 – v8, Jesus tells us an essential attitude in our prayer. What is it?

ANS: Not giving up in prayer

Q3. “(          ), and it will be given to you; (         ), and you will find; (         ), and the door will be opened for you.”

Ask, seek, knock

These simple and repeated command best describe the nature of prayer. Just pray.

Q4. What is the best thing God gives us?

ANS: The Holy Spirit

Just as no father would give his child a harmful substitute for what he asks, so whatever the Heavenly Father gives cannot be bad—even when it is not what we requested. At times, He gives us something different from what we asked; yet if it differs, it is not lesser but better than what we desired.

Because the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift, when we ask for Him, the Father gives Him—there is no better substitute.
