48: Do you love me? Feed my sheep and follow me (John 21:15 – 25)

At the first encounter, Jesus had told them, ‘Follow me, I will make you fishers of men.’ Now, Jesus is telling them what is to be the fishers of men. The 2nd phase of discipleship starts after Jesus’ resurrection.  πŸ‘‰ Read John 21:15 - 25 Q1. After an awkwardly silent breakfast, Jesus got to the point of restoring Peter's broken spirit. Jesus didn’t rebuke Peter but asked him if he (         ) Jesus. But, Peter dared not to confirm his love. Instead, he said, ‘Yes, Lord, you (        ) I love you.’ Then, Jesus said, ‘Feed (      ) sheep.’  Answers πŸ‘‰ After an awkwardly silent breakfast, Jesus got to the point of restoring Peter's broken spirit. 47: Deja Vu: Confirming the Relationship (John 21:1 – 14)

Now, they returned to Galilee from Jerusalem. Though they experienced the resurrection and were to witness it, they didn’t know what to do. Jesus came and confirmed their discipleship. πŸ‘‰ Read John 21:1 - 14 Q1. Even though they experienced Jesus’ resurrection, they went out fishing. Simon Peter told them, “I am going (          ).” They replied, “(                  ).” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught (          ). 46: Believe and Proclaim (John 20:19 – 31)

Though they were supposed to believe the message of the resurrection, they couldn't. Now, Jesus appeared to them and commissioned them to proclaim the resurrection to others. Thus, the gospel has been transferred to us now.  πŸ‘‰ Read John 20: 19 - 31 Q1. When the disciples gathered together and (          ) the door of the place because they were (          ) of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “(              )!” Answers πŸ‘‰ When the disciples gathered together and ( locked  ) the door of the place because they were (  afraid  ) of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “( Peace be with you  )!” When you don’t believe in the resurrection, you will be afraid of the world. Q2. ‘Just as the Father has sent me, I also send you.’ Jesus is sending His disciples in the same manner as God has sent Him. What facts does the...

45: More Unbelievable than Resurrection: "My Father and Your Father" (John 20:1 – 18)

They couldn’t believe Jesus’ resurrection. However, the privilege and blessing given by His resurrection are too great for us to imagine. πŸ‘‰ Read John 20: 1 - 18 Q 1. When Mary saw the stone was moved away, what did she think? (2) Answers πŸ‘‰ Someone stole the body of Jesus. Jesus had told several times about His resurrection, but she didn’t take the literal meaning of resurrection. She didn’t believe it. Note that Jesus showed them the empty tomb first before He would appear to them. It was to expose their unbelief of not believing the resurrection and to challenge them to walk in faith. The empty tomb might construe two possible interpretations: resurrection or tomb robbery. They interpreted that the body was stolen, which is more probable, rather than Jesus having risen, even though Jesus had told beforehand.  The empty tomb could be evidence of the resurrection for those who believe Jesus. However, for those who rely on evidence to believe, it could support the consp...

44: He was the Lamb of God. “It is completed!” (John 19:28 – 42)

The crucifixion was the King’s declaration of the war against death. The war comprised two parts: removing the guilt of sins through death and demolishing the power of death through the resurrection. The death scene recalls the atoning and cleansing ritual of OT. πŸ‘‰ Read John 19: 28 - 42 Q1. To fulfill the scripture, Jesus said, “(               ).” A soldier gave Him (        ) using a branch of (          ). He received it and said, “( It is completed ).” "The scripture" (verse 28) refers to Psalm 69:21 or Ps 22:15, which illustrate the suffering of the godly. However, what John meant was not only the suffering of Jesus. He portrays Jesus’ death as the sacrifice of the Lamb of God....

43: The Cross: The ministry of the King (John 19:17 – 27)

The cross was the ministry of the King. And it means a perfect surrender of everything. After that, the King delineated His earthly relationship with the family. πŸ‘‰ Read John 19: 17 - 27 Q1. Though the Jewish leaders didn’t like it, Pilate forced the notice to be ‘Jesus the Nazarene, the (               ).’ And it was written in Aramaic, (         ), and (        ).
